Brite Beauty Tip: The BEST tips for disinfecting make-up
Dr. Oz pointed out on his show today how much bacteria, surprisingly, is on, in and around our make-up. There is some Na-zasty strains of you-don’t-want-to-know-what in your beauty supplies. With that being said, here are some simple tips on keeping your wands, applicators, colors and ultimately, health, clean…
Mascara: Take out the wand and run it under water until there is NO (absolutely NO) mascara on it. Then dip the wand in a little alcohol (don’t forget to rinse it once more after that). Use a dropper and put 1-2 drops of alcohol into the tube of mascara to get the germs out. Be sure to wait a while (about 24 hours) before you put it on your eyes because the Zombie look is out for the Fall.
Eyeliner: Use a hand sanitizer, moisten a tissue with it and wipe the end of the eyeliner.
Lipstick: Dip your lipstick in 70% isopropyl alcohol. This will remove the entire first layer and will leave you with very clean lipstick.
Lipgloss: If it is a wand and tube lipgloss, clean like mascara. If it is a tube that applies directly to your lips, use the tissue with hand sanitizer and wipe it off.
Powder Foundation: Get a spray bottle and put either alcohol or hand sanitizer in it. Gently mist it over the powder.
Most Importantly…Don’t forget to clean your brushes and be aware of switching out sponges and all other applicators frequently.
