Brite Rich Tip: Tricky Changes to Cut Costs
Good things do come in small (and getting smaller) packages. Manufacturers are taking advantage of our perception. Here’s a new sneaky trick to watch out for: Your favorite brand of peanut butter or box of cereal may look the same, but thanks to some brilliant design changes, you may be getting several ounces less than you did before!
A few less frosted mini wheats? – You got it! Many cereal brands have reduced their contents per box by simply making their boxes skinnier. The boxes still appear the same on the shelf, but they’re not as deep as they used to be.
Is Peter Pan in bed with Captain Hook? – Appears so! Some peanut butter jars are being made with a higher dip in the bottom — the jar looks the same, the price is the same, but you get less peanut butter.
First they take away the plastic toys at the bottom of the box (loved that mini plastic lucky charms fella), now its coming to this? Buyer beware!
